New Standards for Integrity and Independence now in effect

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s (ACCME) new Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education became effective January 1, 2022. All future activities planned and implemented must comply with the new standards. Additional information and resources can be found on the ACCME website.

Cultural and Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias Standards now in effect for California CME providers

As of January 1, 2022, Assembly Bill 241, requiring the inclusion of content addressing
mplicit bias, is in effect. The CME team at the California Medical Association (CMA) has
developed a set of standards, best practices and additional resources to assist CME providers to implement these statutory requirements.

Plan now for CME accreditation fees

In December 2021, CMA notified providers that there would be a modest change to our CME Accreditation Program Fee Schedule in order to keep up with the increasing costs for services and inflation. This new schedule will be effective beginning February 1, 2022. You can access the 2022 Fee Schedule throughout the year.

PARS year-end reporting due March 18

By or before March 18, 2022, your organization is required to provide CMA and ACCME with 2021 CME activities data through the ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). In addition to year-end reporting requirements, please review your organization’s contacts and make updates to individual roles as needed.
